According to the legend, it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Whether this is true or not, it nevertheless assumes that we don’t fall at the first hurdle. So how can we keep our New Year’s resolutions? Let’s be kind to ourselves this year: if small changes stick better than ambitious goals, why not choose only one resolution among the four presented here?

1 – Rethink your wardrobe

If you are struggling to get dressed in the morning and even finding your favourite jumpsuit takes hours (maybe days!), you probably have too many clothes in your closet. The question is: how find out which garments you should immediately get rid of? In fact, there is a simple rule for that: tossing every pieces you haven’t used in the last 12 months, especially this pair of high heels that seem more like a punishment to your feet. Only keep those pieces you really love to wear day after day and remember: a curated wardrobe is the key to daily on-point styles.

2 – Choose quality over quantity

This resolution only has benefits: it enables you to build an almost tailor-made wardrobe with perfectly cut pieces while reducing your spending as well as your environmental fashion impact. And you don’t have to break the bank to look fabulous. The motto here is: buy less, buy better! But this also means: no more impulse buys. Go for high quality staples which really highlight your silhouette. In other words, invest wisely and pick timeless garments which will stand the test of time, like a trench coat, raw jeans or a cashmere jumper.

3 – Keep it original

But what about the previous resolution then? At first sight, one could think that the two opposite each other. However, one does not preclude the other! Having an efficient dressing doesn’t necessarily have to mean wearing boring basics only. As you know, in the end, it’s the little details that make the difference. Dare to add some game-changing final touches such as a statement jacket or bold accessories that match your personality, and assert your style!

4 – Enhance your silhouette

Do not fall into the very common trap of buying garments in anticipation of who your future self will be. Instead, delight yourself to gorgeous creations that fit you right now. Also forget about the A-, V-, O-, X or Y-line silhouette rules that lock you into a fashion straitjacket. Experiment, be bold, be creative and treat your closet as the ultimate place to express yourself!
